David P. Nelson serves as the 24th president of Catawba College. A first generation college graduate, Nelson has for over twenty years served as a faculty member and for over fifteen years as a university administrator, first as a dean, then provost, and as a president. His administrative career is marked by successes in enrollment management, student success, fundraising, campus development, and community engagement. He has remained active in the classroom teaching theology and philosophy, as well as music. He has three children and three grandchildren who reside in North Carolina and Texas. He and his wife Kimberly, also a theologian and administrator who is Vice President of Operations for Kramer Leadership, reside in Salisbury, North Carolina.
