CleanAIRE NC is excited to announce that Brittany Griffin is joining the team as our new Policy Manager!
Brittany has always been passionate about serving others and climate advocacy. Her earliest memory as an environmentalist dates back to high school, where she created a recycling system at the after-school program she tutored at.
Brittany served as an AmeriCorps member in New York City, creating mentoring programs for Black and Latinx youth. Through this experience she discovered how poor air quality in the South Bronx impacted young children with asthma.
Following her service year Brittany decided to pursue a law degree, earning her J.D. from Widener University Commonwealth Law School and serving as Vice-President of Widener’s Black Law Student Association. She also holds a Certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from George Mason University, as well as a Certificate in Environmental Law from Widener University.
Brittany has several years of experience working in the non-profit sector where she’s advocated for more equitable mentoring programs for youth, sat on various community boards, and continued her love for community outreach. In her role as Policy Manager, Brittany is looking forward to building relationships with communities and strengthening the policies and laws surrounding North Carolina’s air quality. She strongly believes that everyone has the right to breathe clean, healthy air, and hopes to shape conversations and address environmental injustices impacting North Carolina’s communities.
In her spare time, Brittany enjoys being out in the sun and near a body of water with a book. She also enjoys self-care and spending time with loved ones.
Welcome to the team, Brittany!
