Kayla Cox

Project Coordinator

Kayla Cox is a community organizing specialist who has navigated North Carolina’s political terrain for ten years. Her work has allowed her to hold key leadership roles in various advocacy organizations, previously serving as State Digital Director for NextGen North Carolina and as Eastern Field Secretary for the North Carolina NAACP.

Throughout her career, Kayla has developed a discerning eye for the economic, electoral, and environmental disparities that rural and BIPOC communities face. She approaches each assignment as a chance to turn those disadvantages into serving opportunities.

Kayla is excited to join the CleanAIRE NC team as a Program Coordinator. She looks forward to continuing to reach underserved communities throughout the state alongside her new colleagues.

Kennedy Williams

Community Engagement Coordinator

Kennedy Williams recently graduated from Howard University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies with a minor in Political Science. Kennedy has served as a White House intern for the Council on Environmental Quality, and conducted ecological research in California.

In her new role with CleanAIRE NC, Kennedy will continue to study and work in the fields of environmental justice and policy. She plans to expand on her advocacy and activism with low-income BIPOC communities disproportionately impacted by climate change.
