Health is recognized as a human right, yet health inequities still persist. Charlotte’s Historic West End Green District, in partnership with the Mecklenburg County Health Department, will host a virtual educational series for community residents on September 13th and September 24th. Participants will learn how air quality and health are connected. Led by medical professionals and health educators, including Dr. Raynard Washington, Director of Mecklenburg County Health Department, and Dr. Aaron Levy, MAHA Advisory Board member and pediatrician. The series is aimed at increasing the understanding of air pollution’s public health impacts and actions residents can take to protect themselves.

SESSION 1
The Link Between Air Pollution, COVID-19, & Chronic Illnesses

September 13, 2022 | 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

This session will include insights from local physicians regarding the connection between air pollution in the urban setting and links to this exposure as it relates to chronic illnesses. The session will also include solutions that promote clean air for all communities. Topics will cover:

  • Urban Air Pollution & Health Inequities
  • Linkage between Chronic Illness, COVID-19 and Air Pollution
  • Benefits of Green Spaces in the Historic West End Green District
  • What Are Your Resources
