Earlier this year, our very own Community Science Manager, Daisha Wall, was selected as a member of the Environmental Justice Advisory Council for the Governor’s Office of North Carolina!
Daisha’s dedication to community science and environmental justice perfectly aligns with this important role. As an Advisory Council member, she’ll serve as a crucial link between communities most impacted by environmental issues and the government agencies responsible for addressing them. This ensures that environmental policies are not only effective, but also consider the diverse needs and concerns of those who have been historically marginalized and disproportionately burdened by environmental problems.
I’m incredibly honored to be selected for the Environmental Justice Advisory Council. This is a fantastic opportunity to bridge the gap between communities and decision-makers. I’m eager to work collaboratively to ensure environmental policies address the needs of those most impacted by pollution and environmental degradation.
This appointment comes at a pivotal time. Last October, Governor Cooper signed Executive Order 292, a significant win for environmental justice communities in North Carolina. The order established the new advisory council, fostering stronger collaboration between government agencies and bringing a wider range of perspectives and resources to the table in the pursuit of environmental justice solutions.
We’re incredibly proud of Daisha for this well-deserved recognition of her tireless work. We know she’ll be a powerful voice for environmental justice in North Carolina, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact she’ll have alongside the council!
